The following artwork was created and inspired by Frank Ocean’s single from his Channel Orange album “Pyramids“. The concept is all my artistic interpretation of the song and the music video that was produced by and for the talented singer and songwriters single.

Frank Ocean Pyramids Music Video
The music video starts out with the singer at a bar and drink several shots of what appears to be meth or some sort of drug/drink. The drink spikes his dark intentions and cause him to pull out a gun in order to shoot the bartender. After committing the murder of the bartender the same one that served him he then goes on a ride on his motorcycle. The ride is a somewhat disturbed ride followed by a scene of him at the pyramid which is a strip club. However, my thought is that all of which takes place is an illusion due to the drug that he intake.

The artwork and drawing of Frank Ocean illustrates him as a pharaoh because he leisure around music video as a king and finds himself lost in another portal or dimension following several scenes and walking through a club full of lustful strippers and adult dancers. The mood is aery, dark, lustful, but at the same time appears to be luring for anyone that would come across a strip club similar to the one Frank Ocean appears in.

The “Pyramids” inspired drawing of Frank Ocean is the second piece that I have composed of the Grammy nominated signer of the 2013 Grammy celebrations. The first pieces was inspired by a prior single Frank Ocean had called “Novacane ” which is a song that serves of much irony. I am a big fan of this talented musician and just figured I could use my creativity and skills to created something representing the single “Novacane” at that time.
The song “Novacane” was about a girl, but also about a drug. The irony of a woman being as good and bad as a drug for a person is not something that can easily be composed went it comes to music composition. Though I have been a fan of Frank Ocean since I first heard the Lonny Breaux Collection and Nostalgia, Ultra both released in 2011. It is amazing to see how fast and how big his career have exploded as a musician.
Drawing Frank Ocean with a blunt below which forms the figure of the artist was the idea I thought of similar to a genie coming from a lamp, but in this case an artist coming from a rolled blunt. Both drawings are available for purchase online at Fine Art America.
