The following band Guilty is the Bear started in college, progressed to the city, and now fills the Midwest scene of both Lincoln/Omaha & surrounding areas. Singer song writer Braun Pacheco founded the group off 5 songs and need for more. Melodic bass lines & rhythmic guitars feed life into a rock group with a taste for something smooth. GITB is set to take up touring with the release of their anticipated debut album spring of 2013.

During a night out enjoying Omaha I visited one of my favorite spots downtown for live music Slowdown at that night three bands performed and Guilty Is the Bear was one of the bands that I captured that night with the following photographs.

Shooting musicians on stage is something that I enjoy and do my utmost best to capture effectively and in a unique way to make the shots memorable.

The band performed some mellow and fine rock/blues tunes. Among the songs performed was “Vanity In Paris” from their Guilty Pleasures album one of the tunes I enjoyed the most live by the band. Later looking for them online I found “Upon The Toms” that I also favored. I cannot recall whether or not the band performed the song, but they were pretty darn good on stage.

The stage lights at Slowdown never let one down from the audience point of view. I believe capturing the musicians with the lights is essential and critical part of composing great shots of live bands. Available lighting with no forced flash can sometimes generated the best photographs varying on the camera settings.

Slowdown Bartender

As mentioned Slowdown is one of the hotspots in Omaha, Nebraska that I enjoy very much and since summer have found myself there at least four times already for four different occasions. The vibe is mellow, slick, and always full with a pleasant atmosphere. Be sure to stop by the bar/lounge whenever in Omaha, Nebraska or have the chance to get out and about if you live near Omaha.
