Line Photography versus Shape Photography Exercise
The following are some photographs I shot for an exercise from my first introduction to digital photography course from the local college that I was assigned and completed. The objective of the assignment was to give us practice and build awareness of the different elements that can be noticed and found in photography pertaining to the basic elements such as line, spot, organic, asymmetry, symmetry, curves, and more.
I found the assignment very enjoyable because it helped me noticed focal points, subjects and a method of composition I failed to notice as a person that have observed many photographs in the past as an editor and photo-retoucher. The following first example was my best example of spot that I shot on the campus. The isolation of the object (bell) on the brick wall served as a direct and strong focal point emphasizing the spot aspect of the capture.

The next shape and photograph was of an organic shape that I found on campus which was a gorgeous flower I found among the many bushes and trees around the school’s grounds.

I went on to capture some more examples of curve lines, squares, straight lines and circles and below are some more examples of the shots I captured to express what I believe fit those elements and features. I look forward to challenging myself in the future to practice the exercises further more to develop my awareness and an eye for photography in respects to each element and basic composition ideas such as these shapes and ideas.
