Color In Fashion Design From Pastel GROOVE House Designer
Color In Fashion
Color in fashion design is something that can cause designers to create designs that are either not very receptive by others or captivate one at the very first glance in viewing a design. This can be said about any art form in general, whether it is photography, painting, graphic design or fashion design.
Shamina Wiek Designs With Life
Shamina Wiek is a fashion designer based in Omaha, Nebraska with a line called Pastel GROOVE House. The line is a line for the young women that want to be the center of attention when there are others around. Her designs from all of her collections are colorful, full of life, radiant, striking and electrifying.
I got a chance to communicate with Shamina regarding her designs and asked her where the inspiration to do fashion design started for her. I also inquired whether she created in other art forms and mediums, such as painting, sculpting and she said the following.
“I started sewing in high school so I could have the huge wide leg bottom skater jeans that were so popular in the late 90s but weren’t very cheap. Then when I was 19 my sister got me my own sewing machine to help her with costumes when I lived in California. When I moved back to Omaha I took a few years off from sewing. Then legging became super popular so I started just making and selling those. My friend asked me why I didn’t just start my own line so I did. I started Pastel GROOVE House about 6 years ago. I am inspired by 80s and 90s style. I like to mix in different bold colors and fun patterns. I love using paint to really make the clothes pop. I make clothing for girls 15 to 25 or older. The girl who wears one of my dresses is a girl who loves to go out and stand out. Life is too short to just blend in.” -Shamina
Shamina Wiek brought excellence with color in fashion design at the Omaha Fashion Week fall 2012 event. Her designs where fun, cute and pop due to the colors Shamina uses in her designs.
Model Jennifer Martinez Rocking The Runway
The following design is worn by one of the many beautiful models in Omaha, Nebraska Jennifer Martinez. She is a very familiar face when it comes to fashion in the city of Omaha, but it is not for no reason. She have a unique look, which is fit for beauty and fashion. The dress design reminds me of something from a suburban futuristic film along with the entire look and essence carried by the Jennifer. The colorful hair and rough denim look is urban stylish.

This next design by Pastel GROOVE House was also a unique piece. The model Makayla Merolla represented Shamina Wiek’s collection for the night very well. Though the design was not as colorful as some of the talented fashion designers other piece, it was still bonny.

Support Shamina Wiek and Pastel GROOVE House
Currently Shamina does not have an online store set-up, but hope to have one up and running soon. When I exchanged a few messages with Shamina she mentioned that she did not want her clothing to be in the malls because her designs are half fashion and half art. She defines her line as “a little more underground.” Support her work by visiting her Facebook page bellow for Pastel GROOVE House and liking it.
